Lower back pain diagram of the spineCommon causes of Lower Back Pain

One of the most common reasons for people to take time off work is suffering from lower back pain. A common source of this pain can be a strain in the muscles or ligaments in the lower back, caused by lifting heavy objects or moving suddenly. Pain can also be caused by herniated discs and, as we get older, arthritis.

At The Hertfordshire Chiropractic Clinic, we understand that it’s important to get you back on your feet as soon as possible. We’re interested in easing the symptoms of any back pain at the source, and offering you much needed relief from the discomfort you’re experiencing. So, if you’re suffering from back pain don’t hesitate to call us on 01707 3777 97 today and book a consultation with one of our expert chiropractors.

Types of Back Pain

Generally, pain in the lower back area can be separated in to two different categories:

Acute Pain

  • Acute pain is described as lasting anywhere up to six months, and being directly related to tissue damage. If acute pain is left untreated it can develop into chronic pain.

Chronic Pain

  • Chronic lower back pain can be caused by structural spine conditions, such as spinal stenosis or spinal misalignment. Chronic pain can be influence by factors such as lack of exercise and the patients attitude towards the pain.

At our clinic we can offer you help with back problems you have. Chiropractic care has been shown to be an effective form of treatment for lower back pain in a number of clinical trials held over the years, and is now included in the NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines for your GP to follow when recommending care options to you.

What we do to diagnose and treat

Treatment may include adjustments made by our experienced chiropractors, followed by advice given to you on how improving your diet, lifestyle and bad posture can positively affect your health. Then, we may also show you some stretches and exercises that you can do at home as a part of your treatment plan.
